Hiding icons from taskbar is not a new concept. However, for some W10 users this can seem like a tough process. I'm going to explain how to hide the default system icons from taskbar without any tool.
Windows 10 has made it easy for users everywhere to customize their computers to reflect their personal preferences. Because of this, users can have a more comfortable experience while doing various tasks on their computers.
One of the things you can customize on your desktop is your taskbar. From combining similar windows to customizing whether they only show icons or labels, there are so many ways you can customize your computer’s taskbar.
Another area you can customize to suit your preferences is the system tray which contains several system icons, indicating several features of your PC – from its volume level to the current network you’re using.
However, some prefer to hide these icons completely while some prefer them to be visible at all times. Discover how you can hide or unhide your system icons from your computer’s taskbar with the tutorial below.
By default, your system tray or notification area shows several system icons – your network, volume, as well as the date and time. It even shows the language your PC uses as well as the Action Center where more features can be tweaked.
To hide or show your system icons, you can follow the next steps.
1). Go to the Settings App
First, you need to open your Settings app. You can either open it via the Start menu which is located on the lower-left side of your screen or search for it using the Search option.
2). Go to the Personalization option
Once you’re in the Settings menu, click on the “Personalization” option which will take you to the menu where you can change several options to suit your preferences. Some of the options you can change here are your desktop background, lock screen options, and even your computer’s fonts.
3). On the left, click on the “Taskbar” option
This will take you to a menu where you can customize how your taskbar appears. Several options are available such as the option to lock the taskbar, hide it in certain modes, and the size of your taskbar buttons.
4). Locate the “Notification area” and click on “Turn system icons on or off”
This will take you to a menu where you can select which icons to hide or show on your system tray and taskbar.
5). Enable or disable your preferred system icons
In the next window, you’ll find the system icons that you can hide or show on the taskbar. Toggle the options to “On” if you want to show these system icons on the system tray and taskbar or to “Off” if you want to hide them.
Some of the options available are your computer’s Clock, Network, Power (if you’re on a laptop), and Action Center.
There’s also the option to show or hide the icons for your installed applications on your computer’s taskbar. This can also be found under the “Taskbar” option in the “Personalization” menu.
However, for this, you need to click on the “Select which icons appear on the taskbar” instead of “Turn system icons on or off” under the Notification area.
This will allow you to show or hide user-installed app icons on the taskbar.
Windows 10’s extensive options to customize your computer’s appearance can be extremely helpful for boosting productivity and improving focus.
For example, being able to control which system icons appear on your taskbar can help it look less cluttered and more organized. Not only will it allow you to become less distracted, but it will also allow you to have an overall more comfortable user experience.
