This can happen if you import an HTML file that has a bookmark you already have on your Firefox browser, thus you can multiple bookmarks of identical websites. To avoid this, you have to double-check after the importing process.
That said, let’s get the ball rolling.
Learn the basics of importing in five easy steps you can follow. This way, you can transfer your old bookmarks from your old browser to your new browser. They are as follows:
Step 1:
First, you have to access the Library window by heading to Library, through the bookshelf icon.
Then you have to click on Bookmarks, and then select “Show All Bookmarks”, which is located at the bottom of the panel.
In the case that the Library icon is missing, you can access the Library by using the hamburger menu, which is the three parallel lines located at the top-right corner of your window. You can then follow the options from there.
Step 2:
After that, you can then click the “Import and Backup” button beside the View button. This is located at the top area of the Library window.
Step 3:
Then, you can select “Import Bookmarks from HTML”.
At this point, you should be aware of where to start looking for the file. Remember that this file contains your bookmarks, so you have to keep it in a visible folder, or somewhere you can recall.
Without the HTML file, you will not be able to proceed and will have to resort to redoing the exporting process in your previous browser.
Step 4:
Navigate towards the directory where you have stored your Bookmarks HTML file. Select the file that has your bookmarks, and click on “Open”.
Afterward, the Import Bookmarks File window will close as a way to confirm your option.
In the example below, the bookmarks file is named “bookmarks.html”. The name may vary depending on the file you have.
Step 5:
At this point, you have imported your bookmarks. Congratulations! You can now check the success of the import by taking a look at the Bookmarks Menu in the Library window.
