How to make Cortana to respond to only one voice? With the popularity of Microsoft's new assistant Cortana increasing day by day and the increased privacy concerns, I have been receiving a lot of requests asking me this question. This article will help you solve this issue.
Disclaimer: Please note, the process given below may not work for the more recent versions of Windows 10.
Cortana works with any voice giving commands. However, you can train Cortana to respond to only your voice. But to do that, you would need to train Cortana to recognize your voice.
First, you need to start Cortana. You can do that by clicking on the Cortana icon in the taskbar. You should see the following.
Then select the Notebook option. It is the third option after the hamburger menu and the Home option in the Cortana window. You should see the following:
Click on Settings to see the following:
Make sure the Hey Cortana is set to On (shown as Arrow 2). Also, select Respond best to To me (Arrow 3). Then select the option Learn my voice (Arrow 4). This brings up the following window, where Cortana will ask you to repeat six sentences to learn your voice:
Just ensure that you are in a quiet place where there is no disturbance from external sounds. If you are in a noisy place Cortana will find it difficult to recognize your voice properly. When you are ready to start training Cortana, press Start.
You will now have to read out the six teaching sentences, which are actual voice commands that you can give Cortana. Read out the sentences in your normal voice, slowly and clearly. Once you have read out the sentences, you should see.
Now Cortana should have learned your voice and will respond only to you.
Please note that in newer versions of Windows 10, Cortana may look different from the screenshots shown above. Please also note, the more recent versions of Windows treat Cortana as an app that can be installed from the Microsoft Store.
