But the application is not available for purchase in the Appstore. In this post, I will give you some hints and tips on how to use LaTeX on your Mac after installation.
LaTeX is a scientific document typing application which is written by coding language. In the output, its looks like a normal document. The pros of this application is to add scientific terms easily than other document typing application.
Here we will discuss the installation process and initial using process of LaTeX in Mac.
Installing and Using process of LaTeX
Installing Process
- At first, open the ‘Safari’ web browser from your Mac.
- Now type ‘mactex, on the search box located on the top of the browser.
- After that click on the link ‘www.tug.org/mactex/’ to enter in the ‘LaTeX’ website.
- Now click on the ‘MacTex Download’ to go to the download page of the LaTeX for the Mac OS.
- Now click on the ‘MacTeX.pkg’ to download the package file of the LaTeX for the Mac. On this page, you will also notice the uploading date of the file along with the size of the package file shown here by the arrow sign. You can use any browser as your wish to download the package but the developer recommends you to use the ‘Safari’ web browser.
- The download will take a while to complete. Then go to the Download page of your Mac then double click on the package you downloaded before continuing the installation process.
- A pop-up window with Introduction will appear on the screen. Now read the introduction of the application and press on the ‘Continue’ button to go to the next page of installation.
- Now ‘Read Me’ page will be shown here. Read the page and click on the ‘Continue’ button to go to the next page.
- Then, it will take you to the ‘License’ page. Now select the language from the top of the window as your comport.
- Now read the License details carefully and click on the ‘Continue’ button.
- After that, a license agreement pop-up will appear here. Now, click on the ‘Agree’ button and continue the installation.
- On the Installation Type page, you will be shown the total space which will be consumed by the application and also will be shown the disc where the file will be installed. If you ok with the disc selection then click on the ‘Install’ button otherwise click on the ‘Customise’ button from the bottom left corner of the window; select your disk and others from the customize panel and click on the ‘Continue’ button then click on the ‘Install’ button.
- Now give your Mac Username and password. After that click on the ‘Install Software’ button and after some time the file will be installed on your Mac. Then click ‘Close’ from the window and it will ask you to remove the MacTeX.pkg file; click on the ‘Move to Trash’ to remove the file or click on the ‘Keep’ button.
Using Process - Now click on the ‘TeXShop’ application; the MacTeX application is shown on the app page with the name of TeXShop.
- In the application window first type a document type like the image attached below and click on the ‘File’ from the top.
- Now type the file name, tags and select where you want to save the file. Also, select Encoding type and the file format then click ‘Save’.
- After that click on the ‘Typeset’ from the top and select ‘LaTeX’ from the drop-down menu.
- The text in the File will be shown here in .pdf format.
