Have you ever wanted to make your running head different on the first page in the document? I was always confused about it. I spent hours trying to figure out how to get my running head to work differently on the first page until I figured it out. Now, I'll tell you how.
Looking for a solution to the running-head change problem? Then you’re very close to one.
If you are a regular Mac word user, then changing the running head of a particular page must be one of your most-faced problems. In the Mac word, changing the running head of a page is not that simple. But in our article, we tried to put it up in a simple and easy format that will help you a lot. So carefully read it to understand the process.
So before we jump into the problem-solving part, we should have a clear view of our problem. That's why we are going to dig deep into it.
While making a document in Mac word, sometimes we have to use a running head. Adding a running head is not so hard, so we manage to do that easily. And we all know that the running head remains the same for every page. So it turns out to be a problem when we need to change that head for the first page or any other particular page. If you change it to any specific page, it will get changed for other pages too.
So, what should we do now?
Now that we have clearly understood our problem, we can solve our problem too. But for that, we need to follow some steps.
Step 1
To succeed in this process, firstly, you need to have the section side in your document. If it's popping up automatically, then you don't need to do anything. But if it's not showing up automatically, you will have to click on the document icon on the interface's top right corner.
Step 2
Once you have found the document icon, click on it. Two options will appear before you, “ Document” and “Section”. Now we are not concerned about the document option. So click on the “Section” and you are ready to proceed to our third step.
tep 3
To begin with our third step, you need to click on the first page or any other page where you are willing to make the change. After that, you will have to come to the section side again. Here you will find a “Create a new section” option. Click on it.
Step 4
So now, you are almost at the finish line. After clicking on the “Create a new Section", two more options will appear before you. One is “Starting with this page" and the other one is “After this section". From these two, you have to select the “Starting with this page" option.
Now, make the change in the page you selected at the third step and see the result for yourself. If you have done everything we discussed here correctly, only the chosen page's running header will change. The running head of other pages will remain the same as before. In this process, you can change the running head of any page you want.
Making the running head different on the first page or any other page is a little complicated on Mac word. But it is not impossible at all. With our simple technique, you can easily make up for it. So carefully practice it a few times on your Mac, and then you will be able to do it without any help or instructions.
