Fortunately, it is possible to install network drivers even when you don’t have an internet connection. Here are 3 methods to choose from.
Method 1: Through Free Third-Party Solutions
There are several third-party solutions that you can use to install network drivers without the internet.
DriverPack Solution is a downloadable utility that can let you install the required drivers. Although the basic version is free, there is also a full version that is at least 23 GB in size. Overall, the utility is very user-friendly and reliable.
- Download the DriverPack Solution (start from the basic version) using another computer with an internet connection.
- After downloading, transfer the entire file to a USB drive and insert it into the computer under repair.
- Extract the contents of the file to a folder on the current PC.
- After extraction, run the application.
- As the application is running, it will automatically suggest the drivers that are missing or required. Drag the circle to the right side and click ‘Install all automatically’.
- Give it some time to complete the whole process. Take note of the additional instructions. Secure that there will be no power interruption.
- After the whole installation, restart your computer.
Driver Easy is another free utility you can use. An advantage of this utility is that it will only consider downloading the relevant drivers including the network drivers. Nonetheless, the method is more indirect and may involve a lot of steps than expected.
- Download the Driver Easy Lite (the free version) using another computer with an internet connection.
- After downloading, install the utility.
- When the installation is done, copy the downloaded utility to a USB drive and insert it into the computer under repair.
- After copying, install the utility again on the computer under repair.
- After installing, run the said application.
- Next, click on the ‘Tools’ tab at the left.
- Next, click on ‘Offline scan’ on the left side and choose ‘Offline scan’ on the right side and finally, click ‘Continue’.
- Choose a location when you click on browse and then, click ‘Offline scan’ below. The file will be saved to that selected location.
- Click ‘Ok’ for confirmation.
- After saving the file, copy it to the previous computer with an internet connection through the use of a USB drive.
- On the previous computer, look for the Driver Easy application that you’ve installed and open it. Navigate to ‘Tools’ and then to ‘Offline scan’.
- Next, choose ‘Upload offline scan file’ and then click on ‘Continue’.
- Onwards to the next screen, click ‘Browse’ and choose the file generated from scanning. Next click on ‘Continue’.
- The succeeding screen will show the network adapters and the readily available drivers for download. Click ‘Download’ on the driver you need to download.
- After downloading the driver on the computer with an internet connection, copy that driver to the computer under repair in order to be installed.
Method 2: Downloading Drivers from Another Computer Manually
If you are a bit well-versed with installing computer programs, you can try manually installing the network drivers.
Once you know what you will be downloading through the information from the Device Manager, look for the official websites and download the necessary drivers.
- You can do this by typing Device Manager on the Start search bar.
After locating the drivers, copy them to a USB drive and transfer them to the computer under repair. Afterward, extract the contents there. Run the installers and follow the instructions. Again, the key here is to obtain the correct information to download the correct driver.
Method 3: Installing Through The Use Of Manufacturer’s CD
If you still have the manufacturer’s CD that came with your motherboard when you purchased it, then that will be convenient for you. You can install it like what people used to do in the 90s and early 2000s. After that, you can just upgrade your network drivers once you have access to the internet
