One of the challenges our support team faces each day here at RingCentral is helping customers troubleshoot Voicemail to Email notification issues. Specifically, many times a customer will set up Voicemail to Email, and then go several days without issue. Then one day, for seemingly no reason at all, the email notification for new voice messages does not arrive as it should. You try checking on the Activity Center or using Outlook Web Access (OWA) to see if you can see any new messages that were recorded after the time you noticed the issue.
Or perhaps you call into your voicemailbox via normal telephone number (not your mobile phone) and listen to your voicemails to make sure they are not playing into your voicemail inbox. Unfortunately in both cases you will find no evidence of new voice messages having been received since the last time your phone received a Voicemail to Email notification.
Voicemail to email notification is a very convenient feature that most third party email services provide. It quickens your response times and makes sending emails a lot more convenient because you don’t have to type out everything you want to say, just say it out in a voicemail.
In this article, we’re going to look at how you can troubleshoot voicemail to email notification issues. We’re going to look at the service You Mail and how we can troubleshoot issues related to voicemail in the application.
The first service we’re going to look at is You Mail. There are plenty of reasons why you might not be receiving any voicemail email alerts. Here are the troubleshooting steps you can follow in You Mail.
Step 1
First of all, you should double-check whether your email alerts are turned on and set properly in the Email Alerts Settings. Refer to the image below for a visual guide.
Step 2
In the Alerts tab, make sure that the option “When someone leaves me a voicemail” is turned on under the “When should email alerts be sent to you?”. Refer to the image below for further guidance.
Step 3
If the option is already enabled and you’re still not receiving notifications, then your email provider might be the culprit. They might be flagging emails with voicemail attachments as spam. You can check your spam folder to verify this.
Step 4
If the voicemails aren’t found in the spam folder then it might be because of your private email domain, if you have one. You can inquire about this problem with your email service provider and see if they’re rejecting voicemails from You Mail’s domain.
If they are, make sure to add voicemail@youmail.com to your white list so that it won’t get blocked by your email service provider.
You Mail also has an Android App that can help you organize your voicemails. Users have experienced that their voicemails aren’t coming through. This can be caused by various reasons; most likely due to factors outside the You Mail App. Your WiFi or data connection, device OS, or even third-party applications can cause conflicts when sending or receiving your voicemails.
In this section, we’re going to look at how you can troubleshoot voicemail problems in your You Mail Android App.
The first thing you need to do when troubleshooting apps on your Android phone is to do some routine checks. This will “refresh” your phone and help it clear out any issues you may have. Follow the directions below to do so. Follow the directions below to do so.
