Changing iPhone 5C screen
While changing the iPhone 5C screen, you should exercise extreme caution because even a minor error might result in severe consequences. Also, you need to turn off your iPhone 5C before going along with any of these procedures. Follow the guidelines below to change your iPhone 5C screen.
Taking Off the Screws From the Enclosure
- Get a pentalobe screwdriver.
- From the enclosure's bottom, lift the pentalobe screws. Those screws are just beside the charging port.
Taking the Display Down
- Take a suction cup and place it just above your iPhone's home button. Ensure that your suction cup is securely attached to the screen. Also, put your device on some soft material so that no scratches happen to the back panel.
- Hold your device and pull up the suction cup. Separate the display panel slightly from the back case. You should apply solid and constant force as these display panels come with a tighter fit.
- Use a hard plastic material to gently hold down the back case while separating the display panel. The display panel and the back panel are attached to multiple clips, so use the suction cup and the plastic material simultaneously and detach them from every clip.
Unplugging the Connectors
- Remove the showed four screws from the picture. The purple ones are 2x1.2 mm, the yellow one is 1x3.2 mm, and the turquoise one is 1x1.7 mm.
- Detach the connectors. The purple one is the touchscreen, the turquoise one is the LCD, and the green one is the front camera.
Taking Off the Earpiece and Sensor/Front Camera
- From the display panel's back, remove the earpiece cover screws. The purple one is 1x4 mm, and the turquoise one is 1x2.2 mm.
- Now, remove the earpiece cover carefully.
- Now, take off the cable to uncover the camera. Be careful as it is slightly glued. Use a hard thin material to pull up the cord.
Removing the Back Panel and Home Button
- There are six screws you need to take off for removing the back panel. The purple ones are 4x1.2 mm, the turquoise one is 1x1.7 mm, and the yellow one is 1x1.6 mm.
- Take off the home button unscrewing two 2x1.4 mm screws.
Installing New Display
- Place the new screen and re-insert the home button. Also, re-insert the back panel the way it was attached before. Use the screw precisely as it was shown in the above pictures.
- Install the sensor/camera cable again. Insert the earpiece in its previous place and cover it up with screws.
