Deleting your number is quite easy and fast. Here's how:

  1. Visit "voice.google.com."
  2. In the Google Voice page, hover your mouse pointer at the upper left corner and click "Menu."
  3. Afterward, click "Settings."
  4. For every linked number, turn off the "Google voicemail" by:
    a.    Clicking "Voicemail" at the left side.
    b.    Next to the linked number, deselect the checkbox next to "Get voicemail via message."
  5.  After that, click "Account" on the left.
  6. Click "Delete" under your Google Voice number. Your Google Voice will appear different.

If you happen to delete your number and have a change of mind, here is what you can do:

  1. Right after deleting your number, you have a 90 days grace period to get it back.
  2. You can do so by clicking "Menu" at the top left of the Google Voice page and select "Legacy Google Voice."
  3. Look at the left side and click "Get your old number back." Include a linked number.
  4. After 90 days, if you haven't got your number back, it may be assigned to another user.
